GIGANTOUR 2009: First Rumored Acts

December 13, 2008

AVENGED SEVENFOLD and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE are rumored to be in talks to take part in next year's North American Gigantour — the acclaimed traveling heavy music festival launched by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine.

No official announcement has yet been made regarding the lineup of the fourth edition of Gigantour, which will once again feature MEGADETH in the headlining slot.

Conceived in 2005, Gigantour — proclaimed "the mother of all shred fests" by Revolver magazine — resurrects metal's focus on stellar musicianship.

The third installment of the North American Gigantour officially launched on April 12, 2008 in Denver, Colorado with headliner MEGADETH, Swedish metal band IN FLAMES, Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM, Arizona's modern extreme act JOB FOR A COWBOY and Oakland, California heavy power trio HIGH ON FIRE. The 29-date trek criss-crossed North America and wrapped May 22 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The "Gigantour 2" DVD and CD, which contains footage from the second coming of Gigantour, arrived on April 22 via Image Entertainment.

"Gigantour 2" features over an hour of blistering performances by iconic and influential heavy metal pioneers MEGADETH — who have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide in a career now spanning 25 years — along with LAMB OF GOD, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY, OVERKILL, THE SMASHUP, and INTO ETERNITY. Recorded in DTS 5.1 surround sound, the DVD version also features a behind-the-scenes look at the 2006 tour, while both the DVD and CD offer a hidden bonus track — MEGADETH's ever-relevant "Peace Sells".

The "Gigantour 2" DVD and CD follow Image Entertainment's fall 2006 release of the debut "Gigantour" CD and DVD which featured unforgettable performances by MEGADETH, DREAM THEATER, FEAR FACTORY, ANTHRAX (CD only),NEVERMORE, LIFE OF AGONY, SYMPHONY X, DRY KILL LOGIC and BOBAFLEX.
